Description: Flowers grow from a basal rosette of toothed, spoon-shaped leaves and cluster atop a
leafless stem. The five heart-shaped petals of each flower unite in a yellow tube.
Habitat: Moist, rocky slopes and ledges.
Comments: These cheery, erect flowers often face north. Particularly wet seasons can
produce alluring swaths of bright pink. The genus name, "primula" means "first" and refers to the flower's early
blooming cycle.
