Scientific Name: Delphinium Glaucum
Common Name: Towering Larkspur
Family: Buttercup
Color: Purple
Description: An erect 3 to 8 foot stem holds an elongated cluster of many flowers each attaching to the stem by a short pedicel. Each flower consists of four lower petals and an upper, indistinguishable sepal that forms a spur.
Habitat: Streams and wet banks.
Comments: Often head-high, towering larkspur is likely the tallest flower in its habitat. As
with all larkspur, the unusual talon-like spur distinguishes it from similarly colored flowers.
