Description: All lupines have palmately compound leaves which means each leaflet originates from the same point. The pea-shaped flowers form elongated clusters atop stout, 3 to 5 feet stems.

Habitat: Moist meadows and streams.

Edibility/Toxicity: Toxic to livestock.

Comments: Choking streams with its thick foliage, large-leaf lupine are often the entrée in a smorgasbord garden of color.
